Jose Navarro


“British – Peruvian artist, Jose Navarro studied Art at Peru’s National University of San Marcos in Lima; was trained in Mime by the master of that art- Juan Arcos and has an MA in Advance Theatre Practice – ‘Puppetry and Object Theatre’ from the Central School of Speech and Drama in London.

Jose has participated as a soloist with his own shows, at many well-established performing arts events and venues in Latin America, Asia, Middle East, Europe, and in the UK. The following are some of the shows and festivals where he has appeared: “The Agony of Rasu-Ñiti", (directed by Sara Joffré), at the Cervantes Institute in London 1999. “RITUAL SCISSORS DANCE” (under the artistic name of ‘Pishtaco’) at the Edinburgh International Fringe Festival in Scotland 2000, The Major’s Thames Festival, The Museum of London 2006. “OH…PERA” at the CSSD London 2005. “BURLESQUE” at the Biennale of Adult Puppet Theatre in Lima, Peru 2006.

”A LA CARTE” at Guadalajara Puppet Festival in Spain 2007. “MINIMO” at the Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre 2002, at the Iper International Straatanimatic Festival in Belgium 2007, at Buiten Gewoon Theatre Festival in Doetinchem, Holland 2007. “ANIMALIA” at the Festival of Puppetry and Other Forms of Animation in Kharkiv, Ukraine 2006, at Buxton Puppet Festival in England 2006, at Tehran’s Puppet Theatre Festival in Iran 2006, at the ‘Euromarionete’ International Festival in Arad- Romania 2007, at International Puppet Festival ‘FITEM 2007’ in Venezuela, at the ’High Fest’ International Theatre Festival in Armenia, and many others

Jose trained in Arts Education, delivers mime, puppetry and Scissors Dance classes at schools and in community centres

Jose is a member of the Equity, Total Theatre and the British branch of UNIMA

On some occasions when working in collaboration with invited artists, is presented as ‘Jose Navarro Arts Company’
