The renowned mine artist Mr. Moinul Haque who has won Sangeet Natak Academy Award needs no introduction. At a one go one should say that he is the person who has nourished the art of mine in a state like Assam. It has been a glorious journey for Mr. Haque who started his career as a mono actor in his school life, to be a mime artist of international repute. He founded an acting group – ‘Sound & Comedy’ at Guwahati in 1977 and gained huge popularity throughout Assam. Now he has come a long way from his professional stint to embroil himself in the diversified activities of social life.

Mr. Moinul Haque has been conducting mime classes at various acting institutions and universities of India. At present he is the visiting faculty of Allahabad University, Bharatendu Natya Academy, Lucknow and Akhora Ghar, Dibrugarh. He conducted National workshop of mime at Rourkella, Orissa and Panchmari, M.P of India. Conducted National workshop of mime at Gangtok, Sikkim, Andaman & Nicober Island, Tura, Shillong, Itanagar, Allahabad of India. Recently he has conducted mime workshop in the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Guwahati). He also conducted National Workshop of Mime at Guwahati, Assam organized by NEZCC and Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Assam, India. He founded a Mime Institution ‘Mime Academy’ at Guwahati in the year 1991. Since then The Academy Produced a large number of mime artistes who are the next generation of mime actors. Mr. Haque has Produced a large number of popular mime plays namely, Puppet, Paisa, Gobhait Chor, Bridge, Health-Centre, Dahez, Intrusion, Bird, Hunger, America etc. He has done a project with Deaf and Dumb Children from Guwahati and had put their performances at many places.

Mr. Moinul Haque has been working for the health awareness programmes of AIDS, TOBACCO with a Guwahati based Health organization GNRC at many places in Assam. Moreover, he has been working for the Pollution Prevention programmes at many places in Assam. Mr. Moinul Haque performed mime under the auspices of EZCC for India’s 50th years of Independence at different places of Assam.
